Julie is a dual certified nurse practitioner in Psychiatric Mental Health and Family Practice with Board certifications through the American Nurses Credentialing Center and American Association of Nurse Practitioners. She attended undergraduate and graduate school in Tampa, Florida at the University of South Florida, completing a Bachelor and Master of Science in Nursing for family practice. Her post-graduate certification in psychiatry and mental health was completed through Wilkes University in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. She has 15 years of nursing experience, starting as a Registered Nurse at the VA Hospital in Tampa, and then as a nurse practitioner in Internal Medicine, inpatient and outpatient Palliative Care, and outpatient Psychiatry and Mental Health. She believes in treating the whole person, and truly listens and empathizes with her patients. Her style of practice is to include the patient in all treatment decisions and always takes time to educate patients about their condition and any medication she prescribes.
While Julie has a deep passion for nursing, this is actually Julie’s second career- with her first Bachelor’s degree in Criminology from the University of South Florida. After graduation, she began a 14 year career at the Sheriff’s Office in Tampa, spending time as a case manager in the county jail and then as a criminal intelligence analyst, and through this work, she met and learned to respect and have compassion for people from all walks of life and all circumstances. She realized that she needed a more emotionally satisfying career and the rest is history.
Julie lives in a suburb of Tampa and when she is not in the office, she enjoys spending time with her husband and daughter, traveling, swimming, going to the beach, visiting Universal Studios Orlando, reading, and continuing to learn.
