Medicare Patients: Annual In-Person Visit Requirement
In compliance with Medicare guidelines, all Medicare patients receiving telehealth services must complete an in-person visit at least once per year. At Mile High Psychiatry, we’re here to make this process as simple and flexible as possible.
Why This In-Person Visit Is Required

Medicare Compliance
Patients receiving telehealth services through Medicare are required to complete an in-person visit:
- Within 6 months of their initial telehealth service
- At least once annually thereafter
- With a Medicare-enrolled provider involved in ongoing care

Flexibility with Your PCP
This visit may be completed by your Primary Care Provider (PCP) as part of your annual wellness exam, as long as the visit includes a behavioral health assessment documented in your treatment plan.

Using the Medicare Collaborative Practitioner Form
If you choose to have your Primary Care Provider (PCP) fulfill the annual in-person visit requirement, they’ll need to complete a short form and return it to us along with documentation of the visit.
Instructions for Your PCP
- Conduct an in-person visit that includes a behavioral or mental health assessment (e.g., mood, sleep, substance use, medication side effects).
- Document this assessment in the visit note as part of the patient’s ongoing treatment plan.
- Submit both the completed form and the visit note via fax or secure email.
