Prescriptions
At Mile High Psychiatry, we are committed to ensuring the safe and effective use of medications for our patients. Please carefully review the following guidelines regarding prescription refills and medication management.
Prescription Refill Requests
- Preferred Method: Prescription refill requests should be made through our patient portal. This is the most efficient way to request refills, and our team will address your request within 72 hours.
- Patient Responsibility: Patients are responsible for knowing when their medications need to be refilled. Please plan accordingly, as no early refills will be accepted.
- Weekend and Holiday Policy: Prescriptions will not be refilled on Saturdays, Sundays, or major holidays. Additionally, refills will not be provided on a “walk-in” basis.
Medication Management
- Lab Testing: To ensure patient safety and proper care, random and/or regular lab testing via blood or urine is required for all MHP patients.
- New Symptoms or Events: If you experience new symptoms or events, a clinical appointment is necessary. Our providers cannot diagnose or change medication regimens via phone request.
- Misuse of Medications: No refills will be accepted if medications are overused, abused, misused, lost, or stolen.
- Dosage and Instructions: Patients are expected to follow the dosage and instructions for their medications precisely. Do not skip doses unless directed by your healthcare provider.
- Multiple Providers: If it is found that medications are being provided through multiple providers for controlled substances or narcotics, Mile High Psychiatry reserves the right to dismiss the patient. This is considered drug diversion and/or misuse of medications.
- Sharing Medications: Medications are for the prescribed individual’s use only. It is illegal to share your medicine with others.
No bridge medications will be provided without an appointment unless an exception is made by your provider. This ensures that all medications are prescribed based on a thorough assessment.
While MHP policies are in place to ensure safe medication practices, providers may still refill medications at their discretion. View our full Prescription Policy.
