LCSW

Bio:

My name is Shanell Alleva and my pronouns are she/her. I’m a licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) licensed in both New Mexico & Colorado. I earned my Masters Degree in Social Work from New Mexico Highlands University in 2013. I have been practicing for thirteen years and love working alongside clients to reach their goals and assist in their healing process. The first seven years of my career were spent working in the Juvenile Justice System, and after that time, I transitioned to working with adults. One of my passions is working with LGBTQIA+ community. I
also enjoy providing therapy to other therapists to improve their Mental Health.

I am certified in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) with an emphasis on addiction, and Post Traumatic Growth Somatic Therapy and use Polyvagal Theory. I am also certified to facilitate trainings from the Gozen program to agencies, schools, caregivers, and whoever else feels they would benefit from some skills to help kids self-regulate. I have clinical experience in working with individuals and groups in the following areas: Depression, Anxiety, Trauma, Grief, Bipolar Disorder, Stress Management, Family and Relationship issues. I believe trust and safety help foster the therapeutic relationship; therefore, my goal is to create a safe space with nonjudgement, so clients can be their true selves. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family and taking pictures of scenery!
